# Keyboard shortcuts & glossary

On a Mac the tables show Command and Option shortcuts. On Linux and Windows the app shows the same shortcuts with Ctrl and Alt. Some native desktop commands are unavailable in a browser window.

## Workspace shortcuts

| Shortcut | Action |
| --- | --- |
| `⌘K` | Search tools, views, actions and files in the command palette. |
| `⌘P` | Find a file. |
| `⌘Enter` | Compile the selected document root. |
| `⌘S` | Save immediately; source also autosaves. |
| `⌘F` | Search the active source editor. |
| `⌘ShiftF` | Search the project. |
| `⌘ShiftM` | Comment on the source selection. |
| `⌘ShiftR` | Review tracked changes (the Changes tab). |
| `⌘ShiftA` | Open or close the agent's column. |
| `⌘ShiftE` | Track changes on or off for your edits. |
| `⌘Option]` / `⌘Option[` | In the LaTeX editor: next / previous tracked change, with its card. |
| `⌘ShiftH` | Open versions/history. |
| `⌘ShiftT` | Deadlines, tasks and reviews. |
| `⌘ShiftI` | Snippets and wrappers. |
| `ControlSpace` | Expand a template shortcut in the editor. |
| `⌘J` | Build log/problems. |
| `⌘ShiftJ` | Show the cursor position in the PDF (Show in PDF). |
| `⌘B` | Toggle file-tree visibility. |
| `⌘Option O` | Open the view you are working in in its own window; in a view's own window, return it to the main window. |
| `⌘W` | Close the active tab where the editor handles it. |
| `⌘,` | Settings. |
| Double-click PDF text | Jump to source when SyncTeX is available. |
| Double-click source | Show the corresponding PDF location when the PDF is on screen. |
| Enter / `⌘Enter`, `←` `→`, Esc | In a reference review: confirm, move to the previous or next record, close the review. |

Use ordinary Undo/Redo for source edits. Conversation Undo/Redo changes the active conversation boundary and does not undo manuscript files.

## In the Response view

While you write an answer to a reviewer, the formatting bar's shortcuts belong to the answer (so **⌘B** makes text bold there instead of toggling the sidebar).

| Shortcut | Action |
| --- | --- |
| `⌘B` / `⌘I` | Bold / italic. |
| `⌘E` | Inline code. |
| `⌘ShiftK` | Link (`⌘K` stays the command palette). |
| `⌘Shift8` / `⌘Shift7` | Bulleted / numbered list. |
| `⌘Shift.` | Quote. |
| `Control-M` | Inline equation, `$…$` (Ctrl+M on Linux and Windows; ⌘M stays the Mac's Minimize). |
| `Control-Shift-M` | Display equation, `$$…$$` on lines of their own. |
| Enter | In a list item or quote, start the next one; in an empty item, end the list. |

## Documentation and accessibility

Desktop **Help → VersoFold Documentation** also uses F1. In the handbook, **⌘K** focuses search, Tab moves among controls, Enter activates the focused item, and Escape closes the handbook. Closing returns you to the underlying workspace.

The handbook provides category colors as an additional cue; headings and labels also identify every category. A contents rail appears in wide windows, while narrow layouts retain chapter navigation and search. Code examples have Copy controls, and tables scroll when necessary.

Focus a pane divider and use arrows to resize where supported. Split's divider also offers Home to reset its proportions. Reduced-motion preferences affect decorative effects and supported exported web-edition motion.
