About this notice
This notice describes the VersoFold website and desktop workspace. It does not describe the privacy practices of independent services you choose to connect. Features and details may change in later releases.
This website
You can browse this website without an account. It has no newsletter form, advertising scripts, analytics pixels, or application-level tracking cookies. The interactive previews use fictional project content and do not connect to an AI provider or access your files. Edits and comments in the sample workspace stay in memory and are discarded when you reset the preview or leave the page.
Your browser stores your theme and animation preferences locally. You can remove these preferences by clearing this site’s browser storage.
Cloudflare serves this website and processes network information such as IP addresses, browser request information, and security events to deliver and protect it. This infrastructure processing is subject to Cloudflare’s privacy policy. The site does not set a separate retention period for Cloudflare’s records.
Your desktop workspace
Projects are ordinary folders on your computer. The reference library and application settings are also stored locally. The website cannot read them.
Local storage is not an encrypted backup service. Your operating system, device access controls, and backups remain part of how you protect your research.
Connections you choose
- AI providers: prompts, selected context, and tool results may be sent to the provider you connect. Its terms, retention settings, and privacy policy apply. A locally configured model can keep inference on your machine.
- Collaboration: collaborators can access the project content allowed by the sharing permissions you choose. Public sharing may use a tunnel or hosted workspace.
- Overleaf: the files you export or sync are transferred when you choose that action. Overleaf’s own terms and privacy practices apply.
- References and downloads: retrieving paper metadata, PDFs, packages, or software updates contacts the relevant external service, which can see the associated network request.
- Custom tools: tools and MCP servers you configure may process data under their own policies.
Bug reports
If you submit a bug report from the desktop app, the text you enter is sent over HTTPS to VersoFold’s private report inbox on Cloudflare. The report is stored for review and an email notification is sent to the maintainer. VersoFold does not automatically attach project files, logs, screenshots, or account credentials.
Reports are kept until they are no longer needed for support or development, then deleted. Avoid including confidential manuscript content or secrets. To request removal of a report, contact us at hello@versofold.com.
Credentials and control
Desktop credential persistence supports macOS Keychain for supported agent connections. Other integration settings may have different local storage rules; consult the settings for that connection. Disconnect services you no longer use, review sharing permissions, and avoid sending confidential content to a provider without checking its policies.
You control the project files and can move or delete them using your computer’s normal file tools. Removing a project from the app’s library does not delete the project folder.
